Today I started my body transformation - again! I have had a definite goal of actually seeing a well defined set of abs on my midsection for hmmm, all my life! I've always been in at least OK shape, sometimes great shape, but never really seen my abs. I know they are there, but I've always maintained a well padded midsection.
At nearly 52 I've decided that it is time to really reach my goal!
I "re-learned" recently that I can't control time, but I can learn to really control myself and how I use my time and also what I put into my body. I've been a pretty consistent visitor to the gym for about 20 years now and I love it...but I struggle with the strict diet requirements to get really lean. So the time has come to really make the changes necessary and hit my targets!
I know I can do it and I'm guessing I have a pretty decent physique under my ample fatness!
So today is my first day and it was a success. I weighed in this morning at 230 lbs. I'm 5'11'' with a waist line of 43 inches. So that makes my estimated body fat percentage of about 28% fat! (yuck!)
My goal is 190 lbs and 10% or less body fat. This means I need to gain about 10 lbs of lean muscle and lose about 30 lbs of fat.
I made it to about 14% a few years ago, but it was my lack of discipline in the diet area that really prevented me from reaching my goal of 10%.
I have a "BIG" reason to really "DO IT" this time and that, simply put, is financial. Yes I am committed to my own goal of "seeing" my abs, but I intend to document this and create some powerful information products for the Boomer generation that will hopefully inspire a bunch of "mid-lifers" like me to get lean and fit!
And, I do desire to show my amazing children that when a person really commits to something and is willing to do whatever necessary, great things can happen. I'm sure they will be happy to see me healthier, looking better and feeling much better!
So over the coming weeks and months, I will be posting regular updates here on my personal blog about my progress, experiences, lessons, insights, education, frustrations and successes. I encourage any and all comments and feedback. All will be appreciated.
So today? Well today and this week are a cleansing week and lite daily weightlifting and cardio. I believe that cleansing is both necessary for our bodies and it is a great way to jump start a weight loss program. My cleanse consists of the lemon + red pepper + Maple syrup and water 4 or 5 times per day and some protein plus a LOT of extra water. Today I also had an apple to curb the hunger. I did elimiate pretty well so I'm off to a good start.
I also had a great workout at the gym...I did what I call the Evo upper body workout. I'll explain this more in future posts, but the total upper body workout took me about 20 minutes and it felt awesome as usual.
I will also be charting each days menu-eating plan and my daily workouts. Again, more details to follow.
The time for me is NOW!
Cheers,
Gery
PS - Ok this is hard for me to do, but I decided to post my "before" pictures. I'm not happy with the way I look and feel these days, but I'm committed to this and so I will be posting regular progress photos along the way. I'm excited to see and share the transformation.
Looks like I'm your first post, I'm recommitting to my weight loss as well. About 2 years ago, I lost 110 lbs through diet and daily excercise. All it takes is to do it, AND MAINTAIN!
GOOD LUCK, and we're watching!

Hello Gery,
It's absoluetly the right thing to do, put yourself and your goals out there for the world to see and hold you accountable to. You know now that we'll be watching your progress, no excuses mate, no 'letting off that pedal' to your success with this. Achieve it, we will looking forward to the progress reports and ultimately the new pictures which will reveal that 'Rambo' physique beneath!
You can do it and I know you will, let everyone know which AGEL products you're consuming daily, share your diet and exercise regime as it will surely motivate others to follow suit.
All the best, John.
