Here's a great quote I heard today:
"If you didn't get what you really wanted, it's a sign that you didn't really want it!" Rudyard Kipling
I ,like many people around the world, start each new year with New Years Resolutions. At some point throughout the year, it seems that most or all of these awesome resolutions die on the vine!
Know what I mean? Probably so. Unfortunately I'm like most people.
Frankly speaking, if we're totally accountable in our lives for everything, then the quote above is really quite true. I didn't REALLY want that resolution to succeed in my life.
So now what? Well, I don't believe in giving up either. So my only other choice is to learn from my past failures and recommit until I'm successful. Applying, of course, what I've learned. It's also good to build on your successes and carefully look at what's worked in our lives.
We've all heard it before...doing the same things over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity! Hey I'm guilty.
So here is what I'm doing for 2009 to help me with my resolutions, commitments and objectives.
1. Write down my clear and absolute commitments for 2009 in each of the critical areas of my life. Physical/Health, Relationships - family & friends, Business, Spiritual and Fun!
Write down the end results in each objective and then write down the steps to achieve each. Make the steps manageable and achievable in short periods of time until you reach your end objective.
(I've already done this one!)
2. READ THESE EACH DAY - this combined with simple action steps in each category is a big thing. Doing this one step keeps the resolution in your mind. Just Do It!
3. Be open to all of the possibilities for achieving your objectives. When we're open, sometimes answers and solutions will come into our minds out of the blue and from many different sources!
4. Commit to reading and filling your mind with knowledge from successful people in the areas important to you. Personal Development is the crown jewel of success and accomplishment.
I love this quite by Charlie Tremendous Jones, "Five years from now you will be the same person, except for the books you read and the people you meet."
I think he's right!
5. Work harder, longer and of course smarter! Personally, I've allowed myself to sleep too much. I think this has been one of my greatest personal downfalls. I think I've wasted too much time sleeping.
There is so much to learn, do and accomplish. Time and life are flying by. I can sleep later after "it's" done...so to speak.
I've learned something very cool...when I eat clean and healthy and exercise daily...I need less sleep. I wake up after 5 to 7 hours feeling energized and ready to rock...instead of 8 to 10 hours.
I'm on a mission, I have too much to do right now in my life to waste it on sleep. You/I can sleep later on in life!
6. Be Accountable! Find someone, besides yourself, who you can share your dreams, goals, objectives, commitments and resolutions with. Someone who can hold you accountable to your word and commitments. Make it someone who will push you to keep going and make it happen! Personally, I've found this to be critical to my success.
Well, I won't bore you with my personal resolutions. But I'm totally committed to making 2009 the year of the harvest. (I actually read that it really is!)
I hope the above will assist you as it has assisted me!
Wishing you a Successful, Prosperous, Healthy and Happy New Year! Make 2009 your best year ever.
